Der Staat Island geriet ab 2008 in eine finanzielle Krise, die fast zu einem Bankrott führte. Diese Katastrophe hinterließ bei den Bewohnern der Insel eine Stimmung der Verunsicherung. Im Film „Kreppa“ setzt die Veränderungen schleichend ein: Objekte des Alltags schweben weg und werden der Insel entzogen.
Dem sanften Schweben gegenübergestellt sind Aufnahmen eines wilden und unberechenbaren Flusses, dessen Name auf isländisch „Krise“ bedeutet. Die Tatsache, dass es nur eine einzige Brücke über das Gewässer gibt, ergibt diesen „Pfad über die Krise“. Im Gegensatz zum Finanzfeld wissen die Einwohner dieser unwirtlichen Umgebung, dass viel Erfahrung und Vorsicht notwendig ist, um die Aufgaben zu meistern.
In 2008 Iceland was driven into a heavy financial crisis that nearly caused a total bankrupt of the country. To the inhabitants this catastrophe left an atmosphere of insecurity about the coming changes. In the video the unease starts subtle as objects of public space start to drift away.
Set against to the smooth floating the shots from a river are rough and wild. Its name means „crisis“ in Icelandic language. The fact that there is only one bridge over this unpredictable water refers to a „path over the crisis“. In contrary to the financial field the residents of this inhospitable area are aware that it needs many experience and attention to master the tasks of the surrounding.
